About myself

I became a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California (PSY27971) after earning a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology degree with an emphasis in Family and Children at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) of Alliant International University, San Diego. I also had a one-year fellowship at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center (SDPC). My bachelor’s degree is in Organizational Psychology from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico, as well as completed a one-year strategic business innovation certificate and an Executive Leadership certificate from Cornell University. My training includes psychotherapy and evaluations in forensic, clinical, and organizational psychology. I have worked with Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse, crisis house training utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), young adults with behavioral problems and anger management issues, adults struggling with depression, anxiety, divorce and relationship issues, psychotherapy with adults and geriatrics utilizing psychodynamic therapy, and psychotherapy at university counseling centers. In addition, I have a broad experience with emotional intelligence, leadership, and personality evaluations at the workplace and job fit assessments.

I have the experience providing short-term and long-term psychotherapy and psychological evaluations in English and Spanish. I am bilingual and bicultural having worked with a diverse range of adolescents, adults, and geriatrics including those with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, relationship problems, and acculturation difficulties, anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, and relationship issues. My research interests also include depression and acculturation in the Latino population.

My primary goal is to form empathic and compassionate relationships with my clients that will allow for the necessary teamwork to address and overcome the obstacles they are facing. I understand past and present difficulties within the context of family relationships. I think of each person as unique, dynamic, and changeable. I will adapt the treatment approach to my client's needs to enhance their emotional growth by promoting balanced lifestyles, positive self-esteem, and essential life skills.
